Electric rosin presses

Safety First: Protecting Your Health and Your House
At Home Stoners, we want your growing journey to be a long and healthy one. While rosin is "solvent-less," there are still safety rules to follow:

-
The "Pneumonia" Risk: Never press moldy or "bud rot" infested cannabis. The heat concentrates everything—including mold spores. Inhaling concentrated mold can lead to serious lung infections.
-
Heat Safety: The plates on an electric press get hot enough to cause third-degree burns instantly. Always wear heat-resistant gloves.
-
Electrical Loads: Electric presses draw significant power. Plug them directly into a wall outlet, not a flimsy extension cord, to prevent fire hazards.
-
Ventilation: Even though there are no chemicals, pressing cannabis releases a heavy concentration of terpenes. In small, unventilated spaces, this can be overwhelming for some users.
Gold in the Press: A Beginner’s Guide to Solventless Extraction
So, you’ve mastered the art of the harvest. Your jars are full, your cure is perfect, and now you’re looking at that mountain of frosty trim and flowers, wondering: What’s next? If you want the purest, most potent expression of your plant without messing with dangerous chemicals like butane or propane, rosin is the answer. Using an electric dab press allows you to squeeze "liquid gold" out of your cannabis using nothing but heat and pressure.
Why Go Electric?
-
When choosing a press, you’ll see manual, hydraulic, and electric options. For the home grower, electric presses are often the "Goldilocks" choice.
-
Consistency: Electric presses use automated motors to apply exact pressure. Unlike manual "twist" presses, you get the same result every single time.

-
Precision: Most electric models allow you to set the exact temperature and "plate time" digitally.
-
Small Footprint: They don't require bulky
external air compressors (like pneumatic presses) or messy oil pumps (like some hydraulics), making them perfect for a home setup.
The Step-by-Step Extraction
-
To get started, you’ll need your flower (62% humidity is the "sweet spot"), parchment paper, and your electric press.
2. Prep the Material: If pressing flowers, use a "pre-press" mold to create a puck. If using a micron bag (highly recommended to keep plant matter out of your dab), pack it tightly to avoid "blowouts."
3. Set Your Temps: For flowers, aim between 85°C and 105°C. Lower temps yield a "budder" consistency with more flavor; higher temps yield a "shatter" consistency with higher yields.
4. The Squish: Place your puck between a folded sheet of high-quality parchment paper. Center it on the plates. Engage the electric motor to apply light pressure for 30 seconds (the "warm-up"), then apply full pressure for 60 to 90 seconds.
5. Collection: Carefully remove the parchment. You’ll see the resin has squeezed out. Let it cool (or pop it in the fridge for a minute) to make it easier to scrape up with a dab tool.
