Galactic Funk

Indica-Dominant Hybrid

22% – 26%

bong plushie_edited.png

Galactic Funk or Indica-Dominant Hybrid is a strain that typically contains THC levels between 22% – 26% and CBD levels ranging from < 1%. Known for its Pungent, Creamy "Funk" with Berry and Gas undertones profile, this strain has a growth expectation of being Medium (Indoor: 3–5ft; Outdoor: up to 6ft) in height, with a nutrient demand that is Moderate-Heavy. High demand for Phosphorus during Phase 2..

This Indica-Dominant Hybrid is of the Genetype: Photoperiod. The Galactic Funk strain has 3 phases of the growing cycle.

The first phase is the Seedling Phase. Once you have decided to grow Galactic Funk in either soil or hydroponiclay, the ph levels need to be monitored. The ph level desired by Indica-Dominant Hybrid is 6.2 – 6.8 and 5.8 – 6.2 hydroponically. During this infancy stage, Galactic Funk needs to maintain a target temperature of 72°F – 80°F (22°C – 27°C) for 2 to 3 weeks. Once the seed germinates, it will sprout it's first set of round leaves, or the cotyledons. If you are able to maintain the target humidity of 55% – 65% RH, the iconic serrated leaves will just begin to show themselves. During this critical Phase 1 of the Indica-Dominant Hybrid growing cycle the plant is establishing a strong root sytem. Beginners often over water these fragile seedlings. Do not drown your seeds. You seedling Galactic Funk needs care and gentle light. The recommended light cycle for growing Galactic Funk is 18/6 Cycle for the first cycle, which should last .

The next is the Vegetative Phase. The Galactic Funk will focus entirely on size and structural integity. The temperature needs also change for phase 2. If a target temperature of 70°F – 78°F (21°C – 25°C) is maintained and a target humidity of 45% – 50% RH is achieved, the Indica-Dominant Hybrid will grow stems, branches and plenty of large fan leaves. This Photoperiod is trying to build it's own solar panel of leaves to absorb energy. It is critical to maintain a proper light cycle of 12/12 Cycle for the entire phase 2 schedule. This consistent energy will help plant grow bigger without producing flowers, focusing it's energy on growing tall and strong. Galactic Funk is at it's most resilient and may grow quickly. As phase 2 comes to an end, it may be topped or tied down, as it's training suitability is considered High (Responds exceptionally well to Topping and SCROG).

The most exciting phase, when growing Photoperiod is the Flowering Phase. The plants adulthood lasts . It is at this phase that the light cycle changes for the last time. Galactic Funk will produce the most flowers when the light cycle is 12/12 Cycle. Keep the temperature and humity controlled at 65°F – 74°F (18°C – 23°C) and 35% – 40% RH (Critical to prevent bud rot) so you can really watch this plant strecth and almost double in height. It will want to start producing early into the flowering process.

You will know the Galactic Funk is ready when the white hairs (pistils) turn amber/brown and the resin glands (trichomes) look milky or cloudy, rather than clear. Cutting the plant down even a week too early can significantly reduce the potency and weight of your harvest. Patience in the flowering phase will provide the best possible outomce of Indica-Dominant Hybrid with a desired gorwth profile that will be:
Sturdy branches with dense, "frost-caked" dark purple/green buds

Growers Notes: Hobby Grower’s Notes
The "Stretch" Factor: Galactic Funk has a moderate stretch during the first 2-3 weeks of flowering. If you are growing in a height-restricted tent, ensure you flip to 12/12 when the plant is roughly half its desired final height.

VPD Management: During Phase 3 (Late Flower), focus on a Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) of 1.3–1.5 kPa. This encourages the plant to pump out more resin as a protective barrier against the drier environment.

The "Funk" Aroma: This strain is exceptionally "loud." If you are a hobby grower in a residential area, ensure your carbon filters are fresh before entering Phase 2, as the scent is highly penetrative.

Visual Transitions: Expect beautiful color transitions. As temperatures drop in late Phase 3, the foliage often turns deep shades of plum and midnight blue, which enhances the contrast of the white trichomes.

Defoliation: Because of its Indica lineage and bushy Grease Monkey genetics, it can get very "leafy." A heavy defoliation at Day 21 of flower is recommended to ensure light reaches the lower nodes and to maximize airflow around the dense colas.
Lineage: Falcon 9 (Sunset Sherbert x Tina) x Grease Monkey
Breeder: Exotic Genetix
Primary Terpenes: Caryophyllene (Spicy), Limonene (Citrus), Myrcene (Herbal)
