Runtz or Hybrid-Photoperiod Feminized (Autoflowering versions also exist) is a strain that typically contains THC levels between 19% – 29% and CBD levels ranging from < 1%. Known for its Sugary Candy, Tropical Fruit, Creamy/Doughy profile, this strain has a growth expectation of being 90–150 cm (Indoor) / Up to 180 cm (Outdoor) in height, with a nutrient demand that is High Nitrogen in Veg; Craves Cal-Mag; Sensitive to overfeeding in Bloom.

This Hybrid-Photoperiod Feminized (Autoflowering versions also exist) is of the Genetype: 50% Indica / 50% Sativa. The Runtz strain has 3 phases of the growing cycle.

The first phase is the Seedling Phase. Once you have decided to grow Runtz in either soil or hydroponiclay, the ph levels need to be monitored. The ph level desired by Hybrid-Photoperiod Feminized (Autoflowering versions also exist) is 6.0 – 6.5 and 5.5 – 6.0 hydroponically. During this infancy stage, Runtz needs to maintain a target temperature of 21°C – 27°C (70°F – 80°F) for 2 to 3 weeks. Once the seed germinates, it will sprout it's first set of round leaves, or the cotyledons. If you are able to maintain the target humidity of 50% – 60%, the iconic serrated leaves will just begin to show themselves. During this critical Phase 1 of the Hybrid-Photoperiod Feminized (Autoflowering versions also exist) growing cycle the plant is establishing a strong root sytem. Beginners often over water these fragile seedlings. Do not drown your seeds. You seedling Runtz needs care and gentle light. The recommended light cycle for growing Runtz is 18/6 or 20/4 for the first cycle, which should last .

The next is the Vegetative Phase. The Runtz will focus entirely on size and structural integity. The temperature needs also change for phase 2. If a target temperature of 18°C – 24°C (65°F – 75°F) is maintained and a target humidity of 40% – 50% is achieved, the Hybrid-Photoperiod Feminized (Autoflowering versions also exist) will grow stems, branches and plenty of large fan leaves. This 50% Indica / 50% Sativa is trying to build it's own solar panel of leaves to absorb energy. It is critical to maintain a proper light cycle of 12/12 for the entire phase 2 schedule. This consistent energy will help plant grow bigger without producing flowers, focusing it's energy on growing tall and strong. Runtz is at it's most resilient and may grow quickly. As phase 2 comes to an end, it may be topped or tied down, as it's training suitability is considered High (Excellent for ScROG and LST; Topping is recommended).

The most exciting phase, when growing 50% Indica / 50% Sativa is the Flowering Phase. The plants adulthood lasts . It is at this phase that the light cycle changes for the last time. Runtz will produce the most flowers when the light cycle is 12/12. Keep the temperature and humity controlled at 15°C – 21°C (59°F – 70°F) (Cooler nights trigger purple hues) and 35% – 40% (Strict management to avoid bud rot) so you can really watch this plant strecth and almost double in height. It will want to start producing early into the flowering process.

You will know the Runtz is ready when the white hairs (pistils) turn amber/brown and the resin glands (trichomes) look milky or cloudy, rather than clear. Cutting the plant down even a week too early can significantly reduce the potency and weight of your harvest. Patience in the flowering phase will provide the best possible outomce of Hybrid-Photoperiod Feminized (Autoflowering versions also exist) with a desired gorwth profile that will be:
Vigorous vertical growth; produces dense, resin-heavy, "golf ball" buds

Growers Notes: Hobby Grower’s Strategy
Airflow is Vital: Because Runtz produces exceptionally dense, resinous flowers, it is prone to Botrytis (Bud Rot) if humidity spikes in the final weeks. Ensure you have oscillating fans moving air both above and below the canopy.

The Purple Secret: To bring out the signature purple and lime-green contrast, aim for a "temperature swing" in Phase 3. Dropping your night-time temperatures to around 15°C–16°C (60°F) during the last two weeks will stress the plant into producing those deep pigments.

Training for Yield: Runtz tends to have a "stretch" phase when flipped to flower. Using a Screen of Green (ScROG) is the best way to manage the height and ensure those heavy colas don't snap the branches later on.
Lineage: Zkittlez x Gelato
Breeder: Cookies Fam (Original)
Primary Terpenes: Caryophyllene (Peppery), Limonene (Citrus), Myrcene (Herbal)
