Suzy Q
Hybrid (Balanced 50/50)
< 1% (Often as low as 0.3% - 0.6%)

Suzy Q or Hybrid (Balanced 50/50) is a strain that typically contains THC levels between < 1% (Often as low as 0.3% - 0.6%) and CBD levels ranging from 10% – 18% (Ratios commonly 20:1 up to 50:1). Known for its Earthy, Pine, and Woody with hints of spicy hash profile, this strain has a growth expectation of being Tall (Can exceed 6ft if not managed; high "stretch" factor) in height, with a nutrient demand that is Moderate (Responds well to standard NPK; reduce Nitrogen in late bloom).
This Hybrid (Balanced 50/50) is of the Genetype: Photoperiod. The Suzy Q strain has 3 phases of the growing cycle.
The first phase is the Seedling Phase. Once you have decided to grow Suzy Q in either soil or hydroponiclay, the ph levels need to be monitored. The ph level desired by Hybrid (Balanced 50/50) is 6.0 – 7.0 and 5.5 – 6.5 hydroponically. During this infancy stage, Suzy Q needs to maintain a target temperature of 72°F – 82°F (22°C – 28°C) for 2 to 3 weeks. Once the seed germinates, it will sprout it's first set of round leaves, or the cotyledons. If you are able to maintain the target humidity of 60% – 70%, the iconic serrated leaves will just begin to show themselves. During this critical Phase 1 of the Hybrid (Balanced 50/50) growing cycle the plant is establishing a strong root sytem. Beginners often over water these fragile seedlings. Do not drown your seeds. You seedling Suzy Q needs care and gentle light. The recommended light cycle for growing Suzy Q is 18/6 or 20/4 for the first cycle, which should last .
The next is the Vegetative Phase. The Suzy Q will focus entirely on size and structural integity. The temperature needs also change for phase 2. If a target temperature of 70°F – 80°F (21°C – 26°C) is maintained and a target humidity of 50% – 55% is achieved, the Hybrid (Balanced 50/50) will grow stems, branches and plenty of large fan leaves. This Photoperiod is trying to build it's own solar panel of leaves to absorb energy. It is critical to maintain a proper light cycle of 12/12 for the entire phase 2 schedule. This consistent energy will help plant grow bigger without producing flowers, focusing it's energy on growing tall and strong. Suzy Q is at it's most resilient and may grow quickly. As phase 2 comes to an end, it may be topped or tied down, as it's training suitability is considered High (Highly recommended for Topping, LST, and SCROG to manage height).
The most exciting phase, when growing Photoperiod is the Flowering Phase. The plants adulthood lasts . It is at this phase that the light cycle changes for the last time. Suzy Q will produce the most flowers when the light cycle is 12/12. Keep the temperature and humity controlled at 65°F – 75°F (18°C – 24°C) and 40% – 45% so you can really watch this plant strecth and almost double in height. It will want to start producing early into the flowering process.
You will know the Suzy Q is ready when the white hairs (pistils) turn amber/brown and the resin glands (trichomes) look milky or cloudy, rather than clear. Cutting the plant down even a week too early can significantly reduce the potency and weight of your harvest. Patience in the flowering phase will provide the best possible outomce of Hybrid (Balanced 50/50) with a desired gorwth profile that will be:
Vigorous and sturdy; produces dense, resinous olive-green buds
Growers Notes: Hobby Grower’s Notes
Vertical Warning: Suzy Q is known for a significant "stretch" once the light cycle flips to 12/12. If growing indoors with limited head height, start Low Stress Training (LST) early and consider a SCROG (Screen of Green) net to keep the canopy horizontal.
Harvest Timing: To maximize the CBD-to-THC ratio, many hobbyists recommend harvesting 1 week earlier than a typical hybrid (look for milky trichomes rather than amber).
Airflow: Because the buds become quite dense and resinous in the final weeks, maintain strong oscillation fans to prevent bud rot (Botrytis), especially if your Phase 3 humidity creeps above 50%.
Resin Production: This strain is exceptionally "sticky." It is a top-tier choice for hobbyists looking to make their own CBD tinctures or topicals.
Lineage: Unknown (Proprietary to Burning Bush; suspected OG Kush/Afghani roots)
Breeder: Burning Bush Nurseries
Primary Terpenes: Myrcene, Pinene, Caryophyllene
